The Netherlands one of the most sustainable countries

27 Jun 2011

The Netherlands is one of the most sustainable countries in the world according to the Failed States Index (FSI) 2011.

The FSI rates "nations' relative stability based on social, economic, and political indicators" including economic development, movement of refugees and violation of human rights among others.

The Failed States Index is published by “Foreign Policy” magazine and Fund for Peace, an independent non-governmental organisation that focuses on alleviating conflict in "failed states," which are characterised by:
loss of control of its territory, or of the monopoly on the legitimate use of physical force therein
erosion of legitimate authority to make collective decisions
an inability to provide public services
an inability to interact with other states as a full member of the international community
